Recently the Ricoh Group has announced about suspension of all its shipments to Russia in response to Russia’s direct military aggression against Ukraine (the initial act of aggression has been committed in 2014 with annexation of the Crimean peninsula).
European office of Ricoh has published their initial reaction to this on the official Ricoh’s website:
“The violence and speed with which the humanitarian crisis is unfolding across Ukraine and the surrounding area is deeply distressing. Our thoughts are with every person impacted by this deeply shattering conflict.”
This decision has been made on March 8, 2022, which will lead to suspension of all supplies of Ricoh’s devices to Russia. This step has been taken within the framework of global sanctions against Russian Federation and some of its individuals, having relation to the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ricoh Europe has made a donation to the Red Cross as a step to support humanitarian crisis resolution efforts and other activities.
“We stand shoulder to shoulder in our desire for a swift and peaceful resolution.”
In general, the Ricoh Group has implemented the following measures:
• A crisis management support team has been set up to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees and their families in the affected areas
• Temporary shipment suspension of all devices to Russia
• Initiatives to support those affected by the crisis, for example, Ricoh Europe’s donation to the International Red Cross Society.
All of this has been done based on the company’s main principles – “Spirit of Three Loves” – Love your neighbour, Love your country, Love your work.
Ricoh has also launched a program in partnership with international non-governmental organization “Save the Children Japan” to enable Ricoh employees in Japan to personally contribute to humanitarian aid in direct response to the war in Ukraine.
As a further development of this situation, we will monitor the changes in Pentax Ukraine’s operations, as previously the local representative has been managed by the office located in Russia.
