On November 23, 2017, I was invited to the opening of a photography exhibition and presentation of the photo book “100 Know-Hows of Creative Photography” by Andrew Turtsevych. The photography exhibition will be open till mid December. So, you have plenty of time and possibilities to visit this event of Ukrainian photography world.
The event took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, in the M17 Contemporary Art Center. The opening ceremony was totally dedicated to the presentation off the first photography book of Andrew Turtsevych – famous Ukrainian photographer and illustrator.
“It is the outcome of 20 years of my personal career and experience”, Andrew said. He is really proud of his book. Because it is the first book of such a kind – simple, effective and visualising photography training instrument.
The book itself is pretty well structured: with explanation, scheme, examples of the use / misuse of the technique and the result itself.
At the moment “100 Know-Hows of Creative Photography” is available in Russian, but the publisher will soon issue an English version of the book. Declared price at the moment is EUR 60. No information is available about the price of English version of the book.
The event was also sponsored by ASUS. They’ve provided several displays for the exhibition: some printed images are displayed on the walls, some in digital form on ASUS displays. A pretty interesting approach. Company representative also announced a special award for visitors of the exhibition – opportunity to win ASUS display. You just need to visit the event, make a photo with one of the ASUS displays and post this image in Facebook with a hashtag #ASUSATDIGIT2017.
ASUS displays are also used to demonstrate some pages of Andrew’s new book – an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with this publication and get your free know-hows.
The welcome ceremony was attended by many Ukrainian artist community members, Andrew’s models and a special guest – the “great teacher” of Andrew, according to the words of the author.
Publisher of the book – ADEF Company – was represented by the owner of the company who made a speech about the new approach in publishing – on-demand print. This means that each book will be published on demand for every customer’s order. Again the new approach among Ukrainian publishing circles.
After the event Andrew Turtsevych commented:
Mates, thank you one more time, for visitors of my presentation. Hope you’ve enjoyed this evening programme, as the exhibition itself. And, obviously, the book! I congratulate the first owners of this publication, wish them to obtain many new moments of aesthetic pleasure from the book and artistic achievements!
Several workshops will take place as a part of the exhibition:
November, 29, at 11:00: “Photostocks 3.0” one day training workshop on the theory and practice of stock photography
December, 2, at 14:00: “25 techniques of photo post processing that cannot be avoided”
December, 9, at 14:00: “Post processing of colour photography, professionals’ secrets”
December, 10, at 13:00: “Photostocks: rapid start”
As a pleasant bonus for me personally, I had an opportunity to meet the representative of Pentax Ukraine. We’ve agreed on some cooperation in terms of equipment. So, I hope, I will have a bit more opportunities for reviewing and use of Pentax lenses and cameras.
